July 4th

A little afraid I am,
With Independence day today,
I wonder what it will be,
If all remains this way.

I read history and present,
And project some news to future
Korea and China, US and Britain
The boundaries of arrogance, seem to blur

I sit here, pondering
Why can’t we learn ?
From the past, a recent one
The demise of Soviet and Germans

Next month, there will be another independence day
That will be the horror of India and Pakistan
Since 1947, I wonder what we have celebrated,
Joy of Freedom or Pain of Division ?

The boundaries we create and the walls we build
The fear we instill and hopes we kill
What will I say, to a newly born ?
Or what do I teach to all the young ?

On this eve, while the crackers burn
There was a missile and politics spun
Why do we fight ? Why can’t we love ?
Why divison and not unison ?

The illusionary power, and momentary pride
Will it even matter if meteor collides ?
Arrogant is the man who ignores fragility
And gives up love to accept animosity
In the vast expanse of time, we exist for a minute time
And spend that time to fight and whine ?

Doesn’t make sense, I am confused
To accept this bloodshed, I refuse
I will teach love and no boundaries,
And celebrations will be of life and not victories
No one wins, in any war
Will be my message is what fair

So, I hope that when crackers burn,
It’s not only a story of who won.
It gives a message that we all lost
But, those wars are now things of past.
We remember it with some joy,
That we will never repeat those ploy.
And, thus the humanity will continue to grow
Coz, together to the past, peace is what we owe !

Happy 4th July, folks.
